Vibrant Hair Color

Vibrant Hair Color

Dying hair is one of the most popular things to do in the world of beauty and glamour.  From highlights to covering up grey hairs, hair dye can dramatically change one’s overall appearance. It’s most commonly used to transform hair into looking more youthful and natural. However, unnatural colors are often fused into locks as well, which has become a very big trend in fashion.

Everything under the rainbow, from vibrant pinks to eye popping greens, and even multiple colors at once are being sported in fashion.  Model Charlotte Free has been climbing the ladder of success in the fashion world, and has made a name for herself with her stunning features and vibrant pink hair color. Her eccentrically colored locks have set her apart from the rest of the high end models, providing her with a signature look and a notable sense of fun originality which have turned heads all around the world.

Pop star Katy Perry has also been one to take a walk on the bright side and commit to adding energetic colors to her hair. At the 2010 VMAs she was seen with a variety of colors on the tips of her long black hair, and more recently, she’s shifted gears with a fully done soft pinkish-blond head of hair. She has fun with her hair, and pulls off the vivacious colors perfectly.

If you’re longing for some effervescent tones in your lovely locks, but are afraid to commit to something permanent, fear not! Australian stylist Kevin Murphy has come out with a new product called Color Bug, which is essentially “makeup for the hair”. Available in pink, purple, and orange, the Color Bug is as easy as applying makeup and washes out cleanly without residue. For only $20, you can add an edgy and colorful vibe to as much, or as little of your hair as you’d like with the Color Bug. Check out Kevin Murphy’s website for more information on the Color Bug, as well as other fun hair styling tips and products as well. If you are serious about adding a vibrant color to your hair, do some research first.  Seek out some salons in your area, tell them your hair plans, and ask the stylists for advice. If you already have blonde hair, it may be a bit easier, as the bleaching will probably not be necessary. However, if you have dark hair, it’s recommended that you seek help from a professional, as bleaching can have terrible consequences if done improperly.

As Lady Gaga says “I’m as free as my hair”. Our hair is part of identity. For some of us, it’s just as crucial as any other body part in order to function properly. I know that when I cut my long black hair for the first time about a year ago, I felt as if a part of me was gone.  I’m not saying we should all have long, multicolored masterpieces on our heads, but we should all be free to do whatever it is we want to our hair.  We should create it to fit our idea of the image we see for ourselves.  If you want to dye your entire head every color of the rainbow, go for it! We only live once, and if we’re too afraid to do whatever we want without hair, our fear for other things in life will only depress us more.
