The sun’s summer rays are far gone and the crisp cool autumn air has finally arrived. The change of seasons is a beautiful thing– an interval in the year that gives us somewhat of a new beginning. We are slowly approaching the holidays, altering our wardrobe, and leaving the activities we did during summer until next year.
The transition in seasons is great, but as with anything, there are always a few restraints. For many people, the cooler temperatures are not ideal for working out. Being active is easiest during summer, and the motivation to stay in shape is stronger on account of everyone wanting to look slim and chic in their summer clothing.
Schedule in your workout. Find a time that works for you, and stick to it. The laid back summer attitude may have gone away when the temperature dropped, and the specific times you go out to exercise may need some changing.
You don’t have to leave your home! One of the glories of the internet is that it actually can assist you in exercise, believe it or not! A large variety of information comes up when you search for specific exercises (i.e. “abdominal exercises”, “calf exercises”, “yoga poses”, etc…). If you’re more of a visual learner, the collection of exercise videos on Youtube has something for everyone! Channels such as Blogilates (http://www.youtube.com/user/blogilates) are a perfect platform to help you stay in shape this season.
Keep yourself motivated! When everyone else is bundled up in their winter clothes, drinking tea and watching movies, it’s easy to join in and forget about working out. However, don’t let the poisons of other people’s laziness influence you. Stay strong and keep your well-being high in your priorities.
Staying in shape is important all year round. You may need to alter your schedule or change a few habits in your workout routine as the seasons change, but do your best to stay motivated. Remember, you’re never going regret a workout, but you may regret skipping one.
