Keep on Keeping On: Give Yourself a Daily Dose of Motivation

It’s overwhelmingly a problem for everyone. It’s enough work to keep the bills paid and food on the table – let alone dragging yourself to the gym or trying to receive a promotion at work! I find it extremely difficult to get motivated with countless tasks on my plate as it. Feeling like you’re in a rut? Well, think again, because it is time to search within yourself for the answer to all of your motivational problems. It’s not what you eat, it’s not according to the weather – it is your outlook on the larger scheme of things that is bringing you down!

Let me explain. Do you know that feeling when you plan out your day down to the tiniest detail and you always end up never completing your list? You wanted to eat breakfast, grab a cup of coffee on the way to work, finish all of your assignments at work, go to the gym for an hour and then cook a nutritious dinner. Well, if things didn’t go quite according to your plans, you may be feeling a tad gloomy. Why? You feel like a failure and you feel defeated. Answer? You should put a little less pressure on yourself.

Rework your daily list of things to do. If the gym doesn’t seem like it could ever possibly turn into an everyday affair – make it a twice a week commitment. In that way, you don’t feel as much anxiety regarding your workout plan or the pressure to commit to a daily routine. Don’t always have the patience to cook a healthy meal? Make a plan to eat out once a week or grab takeout on your way home from work. By making your to-do list a little less crazy, you will feel a lot less stressed! Moderation is healthy – it is important to apply that to your daily routine. Once you get comfortable with a reasonable routine then you will be confident enough to add more things to your less. By accomplishing small goals you motivate yourself to reach bigger milestones. You only live once!
