It’s Time to Sweat the Small Stuff

It’s Time to Sweat the Small Stuff

Throughout my two decades of existence, I haven’t been exactly a ray of sunshine (and no one likes to admit that!), but within the last couple of years I have been starting to change my tune. Daily stresses can become overwhelming: stacks of bills to pay, credit card bills racking up and the never-ending struggle to find inner peace as well as the time to nurture close relationships that I hold so dear. I hardly have time to clean my fish’s tank, let alone work on my attitude and paste a smile across my face! Maybe the key to happiness is only obtained without effort? I chose to try it out and do just that: stop worrying, and I received some positive results (no pun intended!)

It may be in your best interest to stop and look around on your way to work or school tomorrow. Maybe your favorite song is on the radio or you stop to get your favorite latte from the little mom-and-pop trendy coffee shop on the corner, and it just gives you the push you need to make it through the day. Why do we look over these things so easily? It really turns out that the little things make the difference in the bigger scheme of things (and rightfully so). What is better than the moment of joy you get from walking out of the office after a long, draining day of work? Nothing else compares. It is when we stop to appreciate the little things that we find true happiness.

Happiness may not be as far-fetched as we first thought, and that in itself is something to smile about. In my opinion, the fact that I woke up this morning and had the opportunity to write this article and share my words and thoughts is a blessing in itself; enjoy.
