Tip of the Week: Bold Brows
One of the most important parts of a woman’s face is her eyebrows. Well-groomed eyebrows perfect the whole face and whatever makeup look you are going for, but well-groomed brows doesn’t necessarily have to mean super thin. Full bold brows stand out and make a statement and, done right, add a beautiful touch to any face.

One quality that makes any woman unique is the ability to be diverse in everything she does. Our girl of the month is likely one of the most diverse people you will ever come across. Not only does Shelbie model, but she also happens to be a landscape architect, who dabbles in other occupations such as being a chef on a yacht and sailing around the world.

My birthday is coming up which means I’ll be another year older, and by popular belief, another year wiser. However, as of late, I’ve realized that as we grow older and gain more experience and wisdom, it’s amazing how reality can sometimes quickly transform our morals.

This look is a neutral but very pretty go-to look for everyday wear. It’s perfect for school, the office, or any time you want to beautifully but subtly enhance your facial features without going too overboard.

For the most part, I prefer a neutral palette with warm colors to a basic palette of blacks and grays. In this very comfortable look, I incorporated a bit of contemporary minimalist with bohemian touches such as the turquoise, ripped jeans and ethnic bag.
Champagne top and jeans: Forever 21, Maroon bandeau: Brandy Melville, Turquoise ring: So Good Jewelry Waikiki, Peruvian Bag: Siam Imports, Sun glasses: Zumies.

While I’ve grown up in a latin environment where I wasn’t exposed to rock n’ roll, I loved it from the moment I heard my first Led Zeppelin song at about 12 years old. For this reason, I love the idea of mixing military inspired pieces such as this slouchy jacket with rugged rock band t-shirts or in this case, a vintage American flag detail.

As most of my loved ones would know, I’m slightly obsessed with 60′s and 70′s classic rock. Particularly the masterpieces of greats such as Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Crosbt, Stills and Nash… You name it. But we must not forget the queen among all these men. The one and only Janis Joplin from Jefferson Airplane, one of my all time favorite bands. This particular look was inspired by one of her flawless, yet “not too put together” look from one of her album covers hanging on my wall. The daek reds, purples and heavy jewelry always made her stand out in just about any multitude.

Bandeau Top: Brandi Melville, Floral Kimono and Patch Bag: Forever 21, Shorts: American Apparel, Accessories: So Good Jewelry, Glasses: Vintage from mom’s closet, Necklace: Artisan work from Peru.
A Few of my Favorite Things…
Here are a couple of things I’m currently really in love with. Top left: Cluth from Lucky Brand, Biltmore vintage hat, Forever 21 necklace and suede orange shorts from Kandaa. Top right: rainbow shoes from Forever 21. Bottom left: eagle necklace from fredflare. Bottom right: Pink glasses from Jeans Warehouse.

Gardenia
I recently found this fantastic vintage leather clutch at a thrift store and must admit I’ve had it sitting there waiting for the perfect outfit. With a piece like this you can pretty much combine anything, yet nothing seemed to be just “right”. Even now, after glancing at this look I realize that there are many things I’d change, but I loved adding layer after layer with absolutely no coherence! Hehe! As always, defying the rules of prints, colors and overall fashion is my thing!

Dress from Charlotte Russe, Sweater by Eliza Barr, Headband from Gap, Belt and Clutch are vintage pieces (Thrift store).

Although I don’t typically like cool colors, I do love different shades of turquoise. But the best part about combining any shade of blue with a color or palette of colors is warming it up. So in this look I added pops of warm colors such as the earth/brown bag and mustard yellow beenie. In this look I focused on this versatile floral piece from Forever 21 that can be a short dress or a long shirt if paired with pants. The tornasol aviator glasses are from American Eagle Outfitters, the yellow beenie from Hot Topic, the bag from Urban Outfitters, the lightning ring from Brandy Melville, the Turquoise ring from So Good Jewelry and the bone ring from an artisan in Colombia. Black shoes are from Aldo.

Everyone’s favorite Material Girl has done it again. Madonna has just released a new album titled MDNA, which has already begun to dominate the pop charts. It’s hard to believe this is already Madonna’s twelfth studio album, as it seems like just yesterday the Lucky Star was causing a ruckus in the 80s. Unlike some artists of past generations, Madonna does not let the fame and success of previous work stop her artistry.

I love mixing crazy colors with neutrals as I’ve mentioned before. Specially when it involves some of my favorite bohemian pieces with a twist of Italian street fashion. In this look, I’ve incorporated a couple of pieces from Forever 21 such as the crochet rainbow top, a lucky brand blue blazer/jacket, Steve Madden animal print shoes and vintage clutch and hat from catherine’s Closet Vintage boutique in downtown Honolulu. The arm party bracelets are mostly from So Good Jewelry in the Waikiki Trade Center.
